Mulefoot Sows

The characteristics of Mulefoot Sows are a smaller head in proportion of body size with greater width between eyes. Mulefoot faces in both sows and boars are straight. Sows have medium length ears that incline forward and are somewhat pointed. The sows belly and flank and straight and full carrying well out to line of sides. Sows typically carry on average 4-6 in a litter, but can carry up to 12. Sows are calm and great mothers. The sow’s legs and feet are medium size, straight and set well apart under body. The sow’s tails are medium length, larger at the base and shows good tapering.

The coat is moderately thick and black in color with white points in some occasions. Sows at 6 months old weigh around 150 pounds, at 1 year old around 300 pounds, at 1.5 years old around 375 and sows two years and older weigh 450-500 pounds. Mulefoot sows are immune to many diseases and are said not carry hog cholera. Our breeding sows are selected for their breed characteristics, temperament, and mothering abilities. Only the top picks of the top litters are chosen to become part of our breeding program.
